Make a Difference!

"The best part about being a PWAP cyclist is that riders can take any bike race or tour and help others turn it into their own charity event. I can't think of a better way to make a difference and do what I love at the same time."

Pedaling with a Purpose

A Brief History
Pedaling with a Purpose
was founded in 2006 by bicycling enthusiast, Eric Cook. Inspired by a young cancer patient named Christi Thomas, Eric decided to put his cycling talents to use and try to raise some money for the Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation. Unfortunately, Christi lost her battle against cancer in September of 2006, but her spirit lives on as Pedaling with a Purpose continues to help make a difference.

For his inaugural event on June 17, 2006 he raced in Michigan's only 100-mile mountain bike race, called the Founder's Lumberjack 100. Through his efforts and the generous donations of friends, family and coworkers, Eric was able to raise over $12,000 to help fight childhood cancer!

Little did he realize at the time that his fundraising effort not only would provide a sense of accomplishment he had never experienced, but it inspired him to develop the Pedaling with a Purpose concept. Over the years, Eric has been responsible for generating over $25,000 through his personal efforts and and it's his hope to help other cyclists across the country make a difference too.
